As we drove the short distance to Liard Hot Springs, we had to watch for wood bison on the road. We saw several along the way.
We pulled into Liard Hot Springs.......set up camp....then walked down the boardwalk to check out the springs! There are two areas to soak, Alpha pool which is shallower and hotter than Beta pool. Beta pool is nine feet deep and murky. Beta pool is at the end of the boardwalk, four tenths of a mile from the parking area.
We returned to the rv and after a while, donned our suits and walked back to the springs.
I enjoyed my soak in Beta pool. I didn't like the muddy feel of the bottom, though. Then we walked back to Alpha pool and soaked there for a while. Alpha pool has wooden benches anchored in the center so you don't have to sit on the rock bottom. After returning to the rv, we changed clothes and cooked dinner.
Later that evening (10 p.m.), we returned to the springs. Since it stays light until after midnight we didn't need a flashlight. There were some local characters who disregarded the no alcohol sign and made it an interesting soak.
We soaked until we couldn't take the heat any more, then returned to plan our trip for the following day....destination Watson Lake, Yukon!
