Bay of Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, Canada (May 29 through June 2)

After a long day, we arrived at Bay of Fundy National Park in New Brunswick. We were able to get into the visitor center parking lot (barely) to check in and find directions to our campground. As we were driving into the park, we saw signs for all the campgrounds except ours! It turns out our campground was not far from the visitor center, but still no signs! Once checked in, we proceeded to our site in Cannontawn Campground. It was a nice, small campground near the playground and golf course...And it had full hook-ups (30 amp electric, water, and sewer)! This would be our home base for the next 5 nights.

After we got settled, we decided to drive around the part of the park that was near us (it is a big park). Bob took the road to Wolfe Point. As he drove, I noticed a lot of signs for trails. Wolfe Point was at the end of the road and we had to drive through a covered bridge to get to the parking area.
It was a short trip to the overlook (look off) to view a cove on Bay of Fundy. It was high tide so all the rocks were covered and it looked like a normal cove.

We were able to walk from the look off  back to the covered bridge. It was up and down all the way.

The next day we drove to Cape Enrage to visit the lighthouse

From Cape Enrage, we drove to Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park to walk amongst the rocks at low tide.

Yes, this is one of the areas where you can walk the muddy beach at low tide. At high tide, it is impossible to get near the beach as the tide rises over 40 feet! The rock formations are called flower pots as they all have trees and plants growing on top.

On our way back to the campground, we stopped in Alma, NB, to get a picture of the boats at high tide.

The next day, we got the picture at low tide.
While we were camped at Bay of Fundy, we did a lot of hiking. Our goal was at least 5 miles a day. We hiked to Dickson Falls...
...and Laverty Falls which was the more difficult hike.

The following day we hiked Black Horse Trail where we came across a cabin you can rent...

..and Caribou Plain Trail where we learned about flarks (basically quicksand in peat bogs)

After our morning of hiking, we went to Alma for lunch at Tipsy Tails. Bob had fish and chips and I had a delicious seafood chowder with lobster, scallops, clams and mussels.

Our last day at Bay of Fundy, we hiked Matthew's Head Trail. It had several gorgeous look offs and lots of steep ups and downs!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bay of Fundy NP, but it was time to move on to Nova Scotia. Time to pack up and be ready for a travel day.
