Sign Post Forest at Watson Lake, Yukon Territory

We finally made it to Yukon Territory....no, wait! The Alaskan Highway crosses between British Columbia and Yukon Territory six times before your arrive at the official Yukon border.

The highway follows the Liard River. We stopped at Allen's Lookout. It is said that some outlaws used this overlook of the river to look for riverboats to rob. The view to east and west certainly would have given them the advantage of knowing a boat was traveling their way.
Bob walked out on the eastern overlook, it was a straight drop over the edge where the sand ended.
This was the view to the west.
So we finally arrived at Watson Lake, Yukon Territory! We looked for a few geocaches hidden in the sign post forest.
This trip we also visited the Northern Lights Centre to see the films about black holes and aurora borealis. The seats were so comfortable, I almost dozed off.....oops, I think I really did doze.

After a rest back at the RVs, Connie, Bob and I set off for the store and a walk in the park. I was surprised that milk in Watson Lake was still $6.99 a gallon. That was the price five years ago when we checked it. I think what surprised me this time was the price of an eight ounce block of cream cheese---on sale for a mere $4.99! Its usual price was $6.49.

We enjoyed our walk around First Wye Lake. The path went around the lake you can see in the background. Along the way were interpretive signs about the lake and the flowers found in different areas around the lake.
It was nice to see the wildflowers in bloom even though the area hadn't had much rain.
We returned to the RVs which were parked in a gravel lot across from the sign post forest. We spent the night in Watson Lake before continuing our Yukon adventure. Have I mentioned that sunset is happening later and later and sunrise is earlier and earlier? It is almost time for me to darken the bedroom windows in the RV so we can have night!
