HIking in Arches National Park----Day One

So, once again I have fallen behind in updating the blog. This is what we have been doing since I last posted.

Ken's Lake is southeast of Moab, and Arches National Park is northwest of Moab. It didn't take us long to make the drive to the entrance. Arriving on a Saturday, it took a while to get through the entrance since there were a lot of visitors. We drove the 18 miles to Devil's Garden Campground at the north end of the park. Our site had great views in all directions.
The LaSal Mountains were visible if we walked to the top of the rocks behind our site.
The sun set over the rocks across the way from us.
After setting up, we took a hike to Tapestry Arch....
 Broken Arch...
and Sand Dune Arch. Sand Dune Arch is popular with families as it is sheltered between fins and has red 'beach sand' for a play area. The area was packed!
We completed the hike back to the campground by finishing the loop.
It took us between more fins and we had to do a bit of rock scrambling to get through the area.
Our reservations at the campground were for a week and we planned our hikes accordingly---there are lots of great hikes in Arches.
