Travel Day--Sunday, December 2, 2007

We left Tinker AFB FamCamp at 10:30 a.m. When we awoke, the weather was warm (60+ degress) and the wind had died down to 5-7 mph. However at departure time the wind was again gusting to 20 mph and the temperature had dropped to 43 degrees. The sky was overcast. We decided to continue on our way. The sky finally cleared around noon and the wind calmed slightly.

As we drove through Weatherford, Oklahoma, we saw many wind generators. When we left the Weatherford area, there were no more wind generators. Joyce was able to get a picture of them as we drove.
There are several Route 66 museums along I-40 and we wanted to visit them. We found a campground at Lake Elk City Park in Elk City, Oklahoma. The park has 5 campsites with electric hookups and they are free.

Our site overlooks the lake. There is a maximum 3 night stay.
We plan to stay 2 nights so we can take the CRV back to Clinton, OK, and drive the historic Route 66 into Elk City. Both cities have museums and historical sights for us to see.
