Farmington, New Mexico--Sunday, April 6,2008

We went for the ever popular Sunday drive to Farmington, New Mexico. We were going to stop and tour Salmon Ruins (another site with an old pueblo), but we decided to continue into Farmington for lunch at Los Hermanitos--Cecil's recommendation. We finally found it and were so excited, we took this picture.

Then we found out what Los Hermanitos means---closed on weekends! So we backtracked to Applebees and had the appetizer trio for lunch.

We got gas in the Honda for $3.23 since we knew gas would go up on Monday. We only wished we could fill the rv for that price.

Then we drove back to the park and hiked the closed loops at the campground. We were glad we didn't have to take the rv on those loops as the roads were dirt and had many deep ruts!

Monday we leave for Mesa Verde National Monument. The campground is not open, but there is a Passport America park across from the entrance.

Sorry to hear my favoret place wasn't open. Maybe another time. Well if you camp across the street from Mesa Verde at least you will not have to take the RV up the 4,000 ft up to the camp ground. It will be better in you smaller vehicle. Gail was scared to death the first time we drove up there. I wasn't too crazy with it either. Cecil
