Bay County Fairgrounds, Bay City, Michigan

Another short driving day and we arrived at Bay County Fairgrounds. We pretty much had the place to ourselves! There was a group of campers across the field from us, but on our side, it was just us and Larry and Connie. They parked 2 sites away from us since the trees were close.
We spent 3 nights in Bay City. Our first day of exploration took us to Frankenmuth. There is a billboard in Florida advertising the Christmas store in Frankenmuth so we had to see it. It is HUGE! It has over 100,000 square feet of Christmas merchandise! Yes, I did buy a couple of things.
After shopping, it was time to find a place to eat lunch. We ate at a Bavarian restaurant. Bob and I ordered wiener schnitzel and it was not very good. It was dry and overcooked. It seems the restaurants in town are famous for chicken...not what I think of when I think of a German restaurant.

Of course, we had to visit Frankenmuth Brewery. Bob's dad and his uncle drank Frankenmuth beer when they lived in Ohio in the 1960s. Yes, we bought some to take to his dad.

We did some more shopping before returning to our rigs. The next day was a misty, dreary day. Bob and I took advantage of the weather and rode to Saginaw to Sam's Club. We needed to stock our refrigerator and pantry. After that, it was time for laundry. To end our day, we found the local brewery and enjoyed a brewski--Tri-City Brewery.

The next day would be a travel day....on to Sleeping Bear Dunes!
