JBLM and Beyond

So we finally arrived at JBLM! Our site was next to American Lake.

If we only had one car, the site was wide enough, but Bobby borrowed a friend's car which made parking tight! Our car fit just right next to Sol's front door!
First on the agenda for everyone was laundry! Then, Bobby had to go to sick call for his tooth. Once the antibiotics ran out, his mouth swelled almost immediately. NOT FUN!

Our entertainment during the week was watching Chinook helicopters drop soldiers in the lake and then retrieve them about 10-15 minutes later. The wind from the rotors blew the leaves off trees at the campground. It was fun to watch!

We took our time at JBLM to do chores such as restock the pantry, give Sol a good cleaning inside, and wash the windows.

Another day we took the kids bowling. DeAnna didn't want to bowl so Bob, Chris and I bowled. I did better than I have in a long time---I actually beat the guys one game!

Bob and I found a trail on base, not far from the campground. We enjoyed walking it when it wasn't scorching hot. Yes, it was hot at JBLM, thankfully not as hot as Utah, Idaho,Oregon and eastern Washington where we had been.
While Bobby and the kids were out looking for a house to rent, Bob and I stuck close to base, the traffic up here is horrible! We did venture out to Lowe's as our solar system decided to go on the fritz. We thought it needed to be rewired, but it turned out that it was a bad switch. All is well now!

We left Bobby and the kids to get settled in their new rental, blow-up mattresses and all. Bob and I had reservations at Kalaloch Beach in Olympic National Park. There was one night after we left JBLM before our reservations started so we spent it at Quinault Beach Resort and Casino near Ocean Shores, Washington. The campground is very close to the beach. We parked Sol facing toward the ocean.
Not to worry, we haven't said good-bye to Bobby and the kids yet. We will return to Lacey, Washington, so Bobby can fly to LA to retrieve his car when it arrives.
