This will be a relatively short post as we did two long travel days before stopping at Lake Charbonneau in eastern Washington.
While we were at Dinosaur, Bobby started having problems with a tooth. When we left Dinosaur, we drove west, but had to detour 100+ miles to get around a wildfire that was along our route. Well, the road we had to use as our detour was having major construction! We were stopped for quite a while as the workers had one lane of the road blocked. When we finally got around the construction, we changed our route and went north through Salt Lake City--traffic was heavy! We finally decided to stop for the night in Idaho and every place we wanted to stop was full! We finally went off the beaten path to Hagerman, Idaho and stopped at a nice RV park. The following morning, Bobby took the car and drove to Mountain Home Air Force Base to have someone check his tooth. We followed later with Sol.
Once Bobby was through with the dentist (he had an abscess), we continued on to Oregon. We stopped for the night at Passport America park in Baker City. We only stayed on night as we had reservations at a Corps of Engineer Park near Burbank, Washington. We stayed at Lake Charbonneau five nights. We rode around the area, but there weren't many sights to see. The area has the confluence of Yakima, Columbia, and Snake Rivers.
Bobby found a Korean Barbecue restaurant and he and the kids enjoyed cooking their food at the table.
We did some geocaching while in the area, but there weren't many. We also toured the dam near our campground. The fish ladders on either side of the dam were interesting. While we were there, it was HOT, HOT, HOT. Sol provided us with much needed cool air during the day.
After we left Lake Charbonneau, it was on to Joint Base Lewis McChord--Bobby's home for the next few years.
