We drove from Soldotna to Anchorage. At Anchorage, we did laundry, restocked the pantry and shopped downtown. We stayed at Ft. Richardson. The campground was full, but we were able to park in the 'rock pile' and dry camp.
It just so happened that the airshow was at Elmendorf AFB while we were in town. The planes practiced as we set up camp and did our laundry on Friday. It is a good feeling to hear the sounds of freedom overhead!Saturday we went downtown to visit a few of our favorite stores. Then it was back to the rv to prepare for our Sunday drive. We were headed for Denali. We had reservations for 3 nights in the park starting Monday. As we planned our trip, the sounds of freedom were once again overhead! These the Navy's Blue Angels! We felt like they were using our rv to line up with the runway! At one point, if we had been on top of the rv we probably could have reached up and touched them!Since we are going to Denali for the better part of this coming week, we will most likely be out of touch--no internet or cell phone during that time. Look for more posts next weekend when we should be near Fairbanks!
