Last Day at Big Bend

Big Bend is a huge park. We only stayed four nights. Our last day we decided to hike the Lost Mine Trail near Chisos Basin in the Chisos Mountains. We took our lunch, lots of water and set off to climb the mountain trail--2.4 miles up and 2.4 miles down. The end of the trail is on the mountain to the left.

This is a view of the road from less than halfway up the trail.

Here is Bob over halfway up the trail.

This is near the top where the trail levels off for a while.

We found a place to eat near the end of the trail to eat our lunch and enjoy the views. After we ate, we walked to the very end of the trail. You can see that there is nowhere to go except down from this point and it is a steep drop if you continue.
We hiked down and returned to our campground to plan the next leg of our trip.

Beautiful! I would not have liked the drop at the edge up there though. Looks like you two are enjoying yourselves! Have fun and be safe. Can't wait to see you in April.
