May 3-13--Ft.Collins, Colorado

Well, it has been a while since we updated the blog. We left Rawlins, Wyoming on schedule Saturday, May 3 and headed to Ft. Collins, Colorado. We went to Ft. Collins to visit Bob's sister Paula and to celebrate Bob's dad's 80th birthday! The drive to Ft. Collins was chilly and there was snow along the interstate. Thankfully, the road was dry.

When we arrived at Ft. Collins, Bob's parents were already there. Bob's dad didn't know about the surprise celebration! Bob and Bill (Paula's husband) left the house Tuesday night to "help a neighbor move furniture." They actually went to the Denver airport to get Donna who was coming in for the celebration. The following morning, Donna came in the kitchen and surprised Bob's dad as he was getting his morning coffee.

We all had a good time seeing each other again. May 8th was the birthday celebration. Paula prepared a scrumptious birthday breakfast.

Skillet wanted to be a part of the group, but no one would let her! She was just too cute!

We went to Chili's for dinner. Graham wasn't able to join us for dinner, but he stopped by to say hello before heading to work at a competitor's establishment.

We returned to Paula and Bill's for birthday cake and cards. Paula used a plane from the geocache present we gave Bob to decorate the cake.

No one wanted to call the fire department so there was only one candle to blow out.Bob got a kick reading his birthday cards.

Kallyn was ready for him to cut the cake!
The days passed quickly. We realized we hadn't taken a group picture. Graham brought his camera and we had ours. Bob and Graham set the self-timers and ran to their spots. Bob had plenty of time, but Graham's timer was not as long and he did a head-long slide to get to his spot!

While at Paula's, we were grateful to Kallyn for letting us stay in her old room. She even provided us with protection every night--Orlando Bloom dutifully watched the bed as we slept.

Tuesday morning, everyone said goodbye. Bob and Dot dropped Donna at the Denver airport as they headed back to Arkansas. Bob and I left and headed to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We enjoyed our stay at Paula's house, but now it is time to continue on our journey to Alaska and points of interest in between!

Okay Retirees you are having entirely too much fun! I am a little weirded out by the Orlando Bloom Cardboard cutout watching you as you sleep, but whatever:) Keep on trucking! Watch our for the wildlife in Wyoming.
Love Ya,
Jen and Andy

Yeah, Orlando was a little strange! But if we turned him around, we could still see his shape in the dark!

Add to our list of animals--fox, ground squirrels and white tailed deer. Maybe we will see some bear at Grand Teton or Yellowstone!
Love,
Mom and Dad

Hi Guys, Love being able to follow you on your travels. I get to go to the grocery store twice a week! It's fun too. Wish I could have been at Dads b-day party looks like you had a good time. Think instead of Orlando I'll get a life size of Richard Gere. Can't believe your grandson is 5 already! Have fun and be careful. Love you both Andrea

Andrea,
We are having a great time. We all wished you could have been at the birthday party.
No, Benjamin is not our grandson, he is the son of a very good friend! Christopher is 3 and DeAnna is 2--but they'll be 5 in a flash!
