Great Falls, Montana--August 28-Sept. 6, 2010

Happy Birthday, Bobby! Hope you have a wonderful day.

This was our second trip to Great Falls and Malmstrom AFB. Both times we enjoyed our visit here. Great Falls has extensive bicycle/walking trails--over 40 miles in and around the town! The trails follow both sides of the Missouri River. So we spent some time riding our bikes around Great Falls--when weather permitted.Ahhh, the rainy, cold weather followed us from Glacier. Our first 3 days here were rainy, windy, and chilly! Then on Wednesday the weather cleared and was actually warm! We took advantage of it and went geocaching.
Thursday the campground had a campers appreciation picnic. Outdoor Recreation provided hamburgers and hot dogs and campers brought a dish. We had a good time and met several full timers. One couple filled us in on traveling Space A. I think Bob and I are ready to try a Space A trip!Friday we rode our bikes along the Missouri River east of Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
We had just ridden through this tunnel when Bob saw a train coming in the distance so he went back to get the picture.Saturday was also a nice day so we once again took advantage by riding our bicycles and geocaching.

Unfortunately, Sunday was another bad day with THUNDERSTORMS! I don't know when we last heard thunder! We stuck close to the rv and ventured out to the hardware store for some bolts Bob needed to fix an outside compartment.

One good thing about our stay at Malmstrom--you are allowed to wash your vehicles on site! The rv received a much needed washing as did the car. The buildup from the roads in Alaska and Canada was difficult to remove, but it is now gone!

Monday--today is moving day. We are headed toward Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. We won't make it that far today--probably just to Havre, MT. You are now officially caught up with our travels!
